Check Hazard

Hazard answers for any Philippine address in 30 seconds: flood, fault, and terrain insights from UP NOAH, PHIVOLCS, and DENR data, packaged into one searchable ₱99 report.

01 · The Problem

What we set out to solve

Hazard data for Philippine properties was scattered across UP NOAH, PHIVOLCS, and DENR portals, each with its own viewer, projection system, and learning curve. Buyers, brokers, and underwriters routinely closed deals without a clear read on flood, fault, or terrain risk because pulling it together took hours of GIS work.

02 · The Approach

How we built it

  1. 01Ingested and normalized authoritative hazard layers from UP NOAH, PHIVOLCS, and DENR into a single spatial index.
  2. 02Built a geocoder tuned for Philippine address quirks (subdivisions, barangays, sitios) so any free-text address resolves to a precise lookup.
  3. 03Designed a plain-language report layout that summarizes flood return periods, fault proximity, slope, and liquefaction risk for non-technical readers.
  4. 04Shipped a self-serve checkout at ₱99 per report so individuals could buy without enterprise procurement.
03 · The Stack

Tools & systems

  • Next.js
  • PostGIS
  • Supabase
  • Mapbox
  • Python geoprocessing pipeline
04 · The Outcome

What it delivers

  • Reduced hazard due diligence from hours of GIS digging to a 30-second search.
  • Made multi-agency datasets accessible to non-technical buyers and small brokerages.
  • Established a repeatable spatial-data pipeline we now reuse for adjacent products.
