ISC2 Code of Professional Ethics

ISC2 members are expected to behave professionallly and personally in accordance with the high standards set by ISC2. These are set in the Code of Ethics, which can be found on the ISC2 Ethics website: www.isc2.org/Ethics

• The safety and welfare of society and the common good, duty to our principals, and to each other, requires that we adhere, and be seen to adhere, to the highest ethical standards of behavior.
• Therefore, strict adherence to this Code is a condition of certification.

For our clientele, and the public at large, to see the value in ISC2 certifications, they must be able to trust our members; this trust must come from a belief that ISC2 members act in a manner that is correct and professional and offers benefit to clientele, the public, and security professionals.

The ISC2 member is expected to do the following:

• Protect society, the common good, necessary public trust and confidence, and the infrastructure.
• Act honorably, honestly, justly, responsibly, and legally.
• Provide diligent and competent service to principals.
• Advance and protect the profession.

We provide security; to offer security services, we need to be perceived as worthy of trust.

A person tending to unethical behavior denotes the possibility that this person will not secure the client and the client's assets but will instead act out of short-term self-interest and add risk instead of benefit to the client.
